"If I had either Yan Liang or Wen Chou here, I would have nothing to fear."
- Yuan Shao in battle with Hua Xiong
Name: Wen Chou
Title: Marquis
Age: Thirty-three
Gender: Male
Style: Canon
Residence: The Region of Ye. An estate in the forests.
Personality:
Wen Chou is holier then thou. He is uptight, chivalrous and is commonly held as the protector of the peasantry. Wen Chou is loyal to Yuan Shao to the death. He holds the Yuan family in the highest stead, and will gladly fight for the family.
As a person Wen Chou treats everyone with respect and sympathy. He even holds a degree of respect for his enemies and rivals. He is mostly everyone's friend, or at least tries to be.
As a leader on the battlefield Wen Chou is a storm. Soldiers rally to him and fight as valiant and as bravely as possible. He acts like a beacon, and is usually commonly used to break front lines of enemy formations. As a strategist- Wen Chou is near useless - as it is cowardly to use deception against an enemy. Wen Chou will follow orders, but when it comes to combat with another army retreat is for the weak and does not represent chivalry. He usually gets tempered when the order comes to retreat during battle. He must follow it - but it is against his code.
Appearance:
In the famous novel of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, it is said that Wen Chou's face resembled a xiè-zhì whether this is meant to say that he is ugly, or just fierce-looking, is for the reader to decide.
It is however, reasonable to call Wen Chou intimidating - which in person he is not. He is a tall man over six foot. His uniform has a color scheme - green - his clothes are green, his cape is green. It is a choice of Wen Chou's. Green cloth is of course, hard to come by. As for facial hair, Wen Chou sports a scruffy beard, a robust mustache, and sideburns. Wen Chou's eyes are also green. His hair, usually covered by a helmet, can be described as dark brown or black, and it is kept short.
Wen Chou can be described as a heavy-weight, though that is not to say that most of it is fa, he is well-built. Just a large soldier with a very muscular body. He is by no means slim or lanky.
After Yuan Shao's Coronation Wen Chou changed his appearance drastically, covering his cape with forget-me-nots, and his breastplate with sapphire gemstones. His face was cleaned of any facial hair, and he received a trim. Some may now refer to him as the 'Knight of Flowers', or 'Wen Chou the Beautiful'.
Armour:
Wen Chou is equipped with the following in terms of armour:
A metal breast plate,
A metal helmet, which stretches to the base of his neck.
Two metal gauntlets which cover his forearms.
Gloves, with the knuckles coated in metal - for punching.
Light weight chainmail greaves.
Regular sturdy boots.
Weapon(s):
Wooden staff, metal spear-tip.
Strengths: Length, Thrusting movement, Strong against Calvary.
Weakness: Weak at close range.
Dual Kukri.
Strengths: Close range advantage, curved blade adds power to slashing movement.
Weakness: Awkward impaling and thrusting movements. Weak at long range.
History:
A veteran of the northern wars, Wen Chou was born in Ye, and was honor-bound to serve the Yuan family. After reciting an oath of fealty to the family at the age of five, Wen Chou was sent to receive education at the war academy in Ye. He was not the brightest student, and left the academy with a knowledge of battle tactics and such - he just never wanted to use it.
It is much more important to this man to be chivalrous. His training at an early age left him addicted to exercise and self-perfection. He resists nearly all temptation, and avoids alcohol, and never strays near the officer's brothels. When Wen Chou was young, he met a character named Ba Zeng, this man played a large part in Wen Chou's life as he introduced the teachings of Confucius. The primary teachings being from Li. "Morals', 'etiquette', 'customs', and 'rules of behavior'." And other teachings such as righteousness, good faith, and loyalty.
All of theses teachings have carried on with Wen Chou for his life.
Wen Chou resides in Ye, fighting for the one and only Yuan Shao alongside his brother in combat - Yan Liang.
