The country was in chaos.
This much was certain. Most everyone had become aware of this, some earlier, some later. Many people had begun to rise up to quell the war-filled land. One of those people, was a young woman at the age of eighteen.
It wasn't odd for an eighteen year old to be fighting in the land. But a female? It was happening more and more, but was still frowned apon. Did she care? Honestly, the young woman did not. Her name was Ji Xiaolian, and she simply wanted to put the battle-weary land to rest. Of course, she couldn't do it alone. Sure, she had militia. But they were just that. Militia.
So, she had chosen a lord. One who she thought was worthy enough to unite the land under his banner. His name was Sun Ce.
He was in the city of Lu Jiang. With her militia behind her, she was approaching the gates to the city now.
"I wish to speak to Lord Sun Ce, if that is to be allowed!" She called out somewhat nervously. She had never foughten in real war before. But, she was going to have to if she wanted to free this land of it's burden.

The city guards looked forward and saw a female at the front asking to see Sun Ce with her troops behind her. She did not seem threatening, so once she drew closer, they had a quick glance at her and nodded, "Very well, you may pass. Sun Ce has ordered us that any officer who wishes to join tells their troops to go to the City Barracks, so the streets and small buisnesses are not crowded. But you are most welcome to enter and see Lord Ce, and you can find him in the Palace", as they stepped aside and allowed her entrance.

Ji Xiaolian nods to the guard, smiling. "Thank you." She turned to her soldiers, calling a command. "Go to the barracks and wait there for orders!"
---
Ji Xiaolian smoothed out her clothes before running a hand through her hair, smoothing it out. "Okay. Let's hope things go smoothly." She let out a calm sigh, glancing up at the palace.
She entered the beautiful palace - the most beautiful she had seen and the only one she had seen - and took a quick glance around. "Oh, right!" She took her guan dao off her back, leaning it beside the door. "Don't want to look threatening, Xiao." She mumbled to herself.
She wouldn't look very threatening with it, either. She did not look very scary, not even in armor with a weapon. Not even with an army. But that didn't mean she should be underestimated.
She walked into the main chamber and immediately kneeled, letting out a nervous cough. "L-Lord Sun Ce! I am Ji Xiaolian, and I would like to talk about.. about joining you!"

Zhang Zhao came into the chamber passing Ji Xiaolian who had just mentioned her name, and whispered something in Sun Ce's ear before leaving the chamber.
Once his words were heard, Sun Ce took a deep breath then nodded. Guess it was his time to shine now and finalise the results. But for now, he turned his attention back to the female who had introduced herself to him, "Welcome Ji Xiaolian, to the fine city, Lu Jiang. I, Sun Ce wish to bring peace back to the land, beginning with Jiangdong and to make sure all my people are safe. So are you willing to join my cause?", he asked, seeing what her response would be.

Ji Xiaolian smiled, nodding her head. "Yes. I may not have met you until now, but I have heard nothing but good about you. I have faith that you could be the one to end the chaos. And I wish to help." She knew she probably sounded a little crazy right now, but she didn't care.
"I might not look strong, but please, just give me a chance. I will not disappoint you, my lord." She said confidently. Honestly? She wasn't giving him a choice. She wanted to help him, and she was going to.
Of course, she wasn't openly going to say that.
She glanced up to him for a moment, before looking back down, obviously still a tad nervous. But who wouldn't? She just hoped he didn't care that she was a woman. She wanted to be treated like the men.
She silently prayed to herself that he would allow her to join.

Sun Ce smiled and laughed, "When I was younger, I always wanted to go to Battle with my father. My sister wanted to go also, but in her eyes, we could see that she too wanted to fight. I see that in your eyes also that you are determined to fight, and I will be pleased to have such a determined person within my ranks to aide me in uniting the land".

Ji Xiaolian let out a sigh of relief. She was a little scared there. "Thank you, Lord Sun Ce. I will not disappoint you. This I swear." She frowned somewhat, glancing up. "My men are only militia, but they'll help us! Don't worry, they're okay armored and well trained. I made sure of this."
She looked back to the ground to keep herself from appearing disrespectful. "Give me whatever orders you wish, my lord, and I will do them. Please forgive me if I question them. I am new to this, so I will be curious about every strategic move." She smirked, but kept her fact looking at the ground. He might think she was mocking him if she showed him her little smirk. Though he did not seem like that kind of man.
Xiaolian adjusted her leather headband a bit, fixing her hair some. She needed to try and look half decent for the new leader. She was from a middle class family, but she was still respectful to higher class people.

Sun Ce listened as she spoke and smiled, as he noticed her head was down, "There is a saying, that an eagle must first spread it's wings to be able to fly....We were all young once upon a time, but in time, we all learn", he paused, "You currently feel that you are new, but I see you as being a valuable asset to my forces and would be great having you here", then he turned his attention to her troops, "You don't ned to worry about your troops either. Overcrowding is not the only reason I sent all troops to the Barracks, but so that all troops can train and work together, so don't worry about your men", ending with a smile.

Xiaolian blushes as he compliments her, doing her best to keep a giggle from starting. "Thank you, My Lord. I will make sure that your compliments are backed up." She rubbed her face to try and stop the blushing. "But, you don't need to worry about my troops.." She glanced behind her at the entrance for a moment. "I already sent them to the barracks, they have probably started to train. They are only militia, but they are strong and good men!" She took a quick glance up, before looking back at the floor. She wanted a good luck at him, but she couldn't do so without looking up. She was a cheerful and somewhat oblivious girl at times, but she had manners. She smoothed out her shirt, before scratching the back of her neck.
'I must look like a complete mess right now..' She thought to herself, running her hand through her hair again, and then smoothing her skirt. For a young girl, she was beautiful, though she did not compete with beauties such as Diao Chan or Zhen Ji. Honestly, she didn't care. But still, she tried her best to look good for important moments such as this. She was doing okay, in her mind. "I will make sure you do not fail, Lord Sun Ce. I will do all I can to help you."

Sun Ce smiled, then took a seat and turned to her, "I'm sure you will aide me in uniting the land, but please tell me what skills you have, what do you best?", he asked, as he did not fancy giving tasks out to his officers, and not knowing they wouldn't be good at that task, so he waited for her answer.
