The search for Han loyalist Wei Fang had began. The man had dared to oppose the tyranny of Li Jue and it had almost cost him his life once already. However it was the will of Guo Si that the man do more and if necessary assist his plans to free the Emperor. Of course Liu Biao was not sure that Guo Si could be trusted in the long run but a least in the short term he was better than Li Jue and any falling out between them could give someone else an edge. Besides there was always the chance that the man really had changed. Either way he had promoted Liu Biao to imperial protector and had asked for a favor searching for this Wei Fang. Clearly as an Imperial kinsman Wei fang was far more likely to hear hear him out that any of Guo Si retainers.
His spies had borough word that Wei Fang may be in any of four places but he felt it most likely he would find the man at the Abandoned Hut in the Chengying forest. It was said to be a holy place where men of evil or ill intention could not enter. By that he also wondered a little more about Guo Si but the pushed the thought aide. He had said he would deliver the message what Wei Fang decided to do after that was no not his business although he hoped he would chose once again to serve the people and the Emperor. He stood now at the edge of the forest with a party of his men. He lead them onward into the bowls of the forest in search of this man.

Leaves on the lush green trees rustled in the wind. The sounds of cicadas and general wildlife filled the ears of all who were present in the brightly colored forest. Sunlight shone through the canopy of trees, creating a breathtaking natural work of art in the form of separated sunlight.
The unkempt natural grass that lay beneath the soldiers' feet concealed several bugs and insects, along with other animals such as deer and rabbits, which went on with their natural ways of life, acting according to the food chain, uninterrupted by the presence of the soldiers around. Clanging of metal and armor disrupted the peaceful environment as the soldiers progressed onwards toward the heart.
There was much more this forest than what met the eye at first glance.
Very subtly, the so far gentle rustling of leaves started to become more rapid and noticeable. The clanging of manufactured arms blocked out the noise.
The harmless, nonthreatening small animals that had been prancing about in merry ecstasy had all but disappeared as the body of men progressed. Still, the change was subtle, and, without concentration could not be noticed.
It was as if the forest was speaking. Reaching deep into the dark pits of their souls. As if it were... Alive.
With the soldiers' further progression towards the heart of the forest, the beautiful sunlight grew dimmer and dimmer. Red, threatening eyes soon appeared from the darkness that was present as the soldiers neared the center.
Watching. Waiting.
Low, soft growls could be heard if the soldiers were quiet enough, and were able to keep the sound of manufactured metal to a minimum.
Would Liu Biao pay attention to nature? Would he heed its' warning? Or would he risk further venture?

Liu Biao raised his hand calling the march to a sudden halt. His men froze looking around into the trees they could sense how nervous he was and he them. They all felt it, they were being watched. He could not say by what or who but had felt eyes on him for the last several minutes. He did not like it at all, was he leading his men into danger.
"Sir i don't like this maybe we should head back." Feng Tian his second in command said peering in the trees, his hand on the hilt of his blade. He could tell that most of the men agreed with him on this matter. He did not know why but he knew to carry on was to risk great danger.
"They say that only the pure of heart can enter the woods sir." Feng Tian whispered as he looked down at his feet. Liu Biao sighed turning and looking at his men. Most of them were looking down as well ashamed. He could guess why, it would be hard for everyone of them to be pure of heart and spirit. clearly they at least did not believe they all were.
"Alright, i want ten volunteers to keep going with me, Feng Tian will take the rest of you back." He looked over his men wondering who would stay. He knew that to come with him the men must feel at least that they were pure. He did not know if it was true but if they had confidence in themselves he would in them. He did not even know if the rumor about this place was true, but why tempted fate.
"Fine, follow me but stay quite." He whispered not knowing why but wanting to be silent. It would be a foolish animal to attack them but in this place why take chances.

The low pitched sounds of night owls could be very clearly heard as the unprovoked rustling of tree leaves grew louder and louder as the men continued to pace deeper into the woods. Suspense was definitely growing as the environmental sounds suddenly came to an abrupt stop, and the sound of beating hearts replaced those that had stopped.
It seemed that the deeper that the unit went into the woods, the darker and more sinister it appeared, as the bloodshot red eyes that had barely been present multiplied several times in number.
Roots of the trees surrounding the area could faintly be seen moving... Though such an occurrence was unnatural and possibly would be regarded as a mere hallucination by those who witnessed it. It would be up to them to decide what they would do.
Whispering voices could now be faintly heard in the wind, as the light tat had illuminated the area had all but disappeared completely. It was now only the men of Jing, the forest and the unknown forces that controlled it...
