The Day was in full bloom over the city known as Jiang Zhou; this would be one of the major turning points for the Yan army. The commander known only as Liu Fan had arrived a few days ahead of the rest of the army committed to the campaign. The main camp was already set up as tents sat motionless, and the clanking of armour and weapons echoed around the camp. Dead in the centre of the camp rests the command tent where the officers and the commander of the battle will meet and put their plans into action.
Liu Fan walked along the centre of the camp followed by four guards who were there to keep the commander safe. He was not only the commander but was also the heir to his father’s kingdom and if he was to die today there would be no one left to take up the mantle if his father passed away and the kingdom would die with his father.
Fan reached the tent and walked in his guards standing outside of the entrance to the tent he then takes a seat at the large wooden table, which had a map and wooden pieces on it. This would be used to mark out units in the battle and allow support units to be deployed when needed. But the officers who would be leading the attack had the skills of many fine battles under their belt were Liu fan on the other hand was more of a leader then fighter.
The camp was located in close proximity to Jiang Zhou but it was out of range of any long-range attacks. The army had never seen much combat an till today most of the troops where fresh out of training and are unaware of what horrors that await them when the battle begins. However, for the most part they were all ready to fight to the death but with the commanders leading them they are in very good hands.
Fan then begins to study the map moving the small wooden pieces around well awaiting the arrival of Magashi, Kazi and Wei Xiadi. They would lead the assault with that fan turns to one of the soldiers in the tent and speaks saying.“When Commanders Magashi, Kazi and Wei Xiadi arrive have them come to me and prepare the men make sure they have eaten and or ready to give their life’s for the glory of the Yan empire.

Vilakazi Shimazu and Magashi Shimazu arrived at the war camp before the noon sun was able to sit in the sky. Both men rode atop midnight black stallions, weapons of war in their own right. Unlike standard war generals, they did not dress in flamboyant and decorative armor; they wore armor that fit their style of combat: Light, durable, and fast.
Behind him came the troops who had pledged their name to Kazi’s service. 1000 bowmen were accented by 400 standard swordsmen and 100 duel-wielding beasts of carnage. 500 axemen carried the pieces for 5 ballistas, 3 siege ramps, and the great trebuchet. 800 cavalry riders escorted them in two 200 unit columns on each side. These men had full faith in Kazi and Magashi. They had hand-picked these men along their travels, bringing together a group of individuals who could work together as a cohesive unit. They were an extension of their commanders’ power and will.
Once they arrived at the camp outside of Jiang Zhou, their men took a short break before setting up the siege equipment. As their soldiers worked, Kazi and Magashi rode towards the command tent. They handed their steeds to two soldiers after dismounting. They entered the tent, and bowed respectfully to the commander of today’s siege.
”Liu Fan, Magashi and I have arrived and are ready to receive orders.” Kazi said as he bowed.
They then stood straight, awaiting orders from their current commander.

Liu Fan sat in his tent awaiting the arrival off his officers they had been handpicked for this campaign due to their skills in the fields of battle. As he sat looking at the table the pieces still standing silent, the sound of armour can be heard drawling closer to the main war tent by the sounds of it the commanders had arrived and with time to spare. Liu Fan. Then began to watch as the mighty commanders walked in before giving him a bow and asking for their orders. With that Fan smiles and stands up and begins to pace around the tent, before looking to the others and saying as he paced once more. “Thank you for arriving on time commanders. You have been chosen for this campaign as you have all proven yourself to able commanders and this is what we need to end this battle. Right my father is expecting us to take the city by force but I want to try a different plan. I took the liberty of drawing up a letter before I arrived that I wish for you to read out to the enemy commander Zhou Xu,”
If he accepts the terms of the letter. Then this battle will be decided without lives being lost. The letter states that if he wishes to avoid having his city torn down around him. He is to agree to a duel with one of my officer’s and one of his own, the winner must then admit defeat and surrender their army and them self’s to which ever side wins.
General Kazi, you have been chosen to fight for the honer of me and my family in this duel, the fate of the battle rests in your hands. Do not disappoint me if you win and I have faith that you shall, bring me the commander alive if possible if not end his life you will read the letter to Zhou Xu.
General Magashi, encase Zhou Xu does not accept the terms of the letter you will take half of the army and the Siege weapons and deploy them across the river in firing range of the city I will lend all of the troops except for your cavalry unit as well to booster your ranks. If they try to fight then I will reduce Jiangzhou to ashes. With that, Fan walks outside and begins to address his army saying. “Brave Men of the Yan Family you stand here with me on this day for the glory of my father, some of you may not live to see the dawn of a new day but remember this. You will be welcomed in the halls of after life as heroes, and your names will live on in the history books now move out we match to war. Kazi and Magashi both smiled and nodded as they exited the war tent wordlessly. While Magashi went to go check on the siege equipment, Kazi addressed troops. He commanded their attention immediately. ”Troops and servants of Liu Yan. You are now in the able hands of the Demon of Ba Shu. Some of you know me, some of you don’t. I ask that you treat me as you would Liu Yan… With respect and fear of failure. The axe men will transport the siege equipment, while the archers will bring up the rear and the swordsmen bringing up the vanguard. Spearmen and and cavalry will take up the sides. Let’s go.”His words and demeanor were met with a collective huzzah. He led the troops at a very reasonable pace, making sure they arrived at the bridge in decent time, but not so fast that his troops were tired out. Kazi, while riding in the forefront of the troops, opened and read the letter. He quickly memorized it. They arrived at the bridge in about 20 minutes. Kazi raised his hand, and his troops halted and sat, taking a break. He motioned to Magashi. ”How far can you fire an arrow?”Magashi shrugged. “450 meters on a good day.” ”Stand at the edge of the bridge, and fire it at the wall. Tell me if you hit it.”Magashi nodded, and rode towards the edge of the bridge. He returned about 30 seconds later smiling. “I hit it easy.” ”Troops, we don’t need to cross this bridge. We will be out of their range here because of our height advantage, but they will be within ours.”They would have height advantage, and Kazi smiled. Crossing this bridge would bring them to lower ground, thus bringing them into their enemy’s range. However, they were now in the optimal position to destroy their opponent if need be. As Magashi set up the siege equipment, Kazi rode across the bridge. He had no white flag, so he rode with his arms out stretched. The troops within the city would know the meaning of his some-what peaceful approach. He was 100 yards away from the city walls before he roared at the city. ”City of Jiang Zhou, I am Kazi Shimazu, the Demon of Ba Shu, champion of Liu Yan. I come with a call to your commanding officer. I, Kazi Shimazu, propose a duel between the Champion of Jiang Zhou and myself. If your champion wins this duel, my troops will march back, and your city will remain intact. However, if I win this duel the city if Jiang Zhou will surrender unconditionally and will submit to the hand of Liu Yan. If you reject my request, you will witness my fury, and the Demon of Ba Shu will rain hell down upon your city. It is your choice. What say you?”

Zhou Xu had heard of the attack of Liu Yan. As Magistrate of Jiangzhou, he could not allow it to fall into enemy hands. How could he, who was part of the "Liu" family, dare attack a Magistrate of a peaceful city. It was not right, not right at all.
When the day came, scouts came rushing in to him, "Repoooooort!". Zhou Xu turned to him, "What is it?". The scouts hands were clenched together and were held out towards Zhou Xu with his head held down in respect, "The enemy are in Jiangzhou and already we have the enemy on our doorstep on our Bridge asking for a Duel which would determine the city's fate".
The enemy were indeed smart. He would of expected an assault but seems they realise that lives are not chess pieces. Instead, they offered a duel which meant if they refused, the morale of his troops would go down, so he had no other choice, so he told his troops to return to the barracks, as they was no point of them standing around.
Once the troops were away, but of course they can be pulled out again anytime like taking a card from a deck, Zhou Xu approached the gate to do the Duel himself.
Che Ma ran infront of him, kneeling and holding his hands up and wept, "You cannot confront the enemy. They ask for the Champion not the Commander. Allow me to fight him".
Zhou Xu looked down on him, "I am the Magistrate of Jiangzhou and it is I who must protect it with my life, and if I fail, then I fail the people, so Liu Yan respectfully has the right to take the city. Now, stand aside".
Che Ma, stood up, "I understand that sir, but your life is important to the people here. You say you would fail them, but you would cause our hearts to grieve over you. I vowed to serve udner you as you are a great man and in these troubled times, we need great men to stand down sometimes and wait for their time, or do the right thing. Now is one of those moments. Sacrifices need to be made in order to survive. Allow me to go. You never know, I could be able to beat this guy!"
"And if not?", Zhou Xu replied bluntly, as he charged forward towards the Gate.
Che Ma ran infront of the Gate so no-one could get by, then said one last time, "It is my life. It is upto me what I choose to do with it. Your life requires to live long and to continue to bless the people here". He pulled out his Double Sword which was a long metal weapon similar to a pole weapon but with spikes on the end which could cause serious injuries to the opponent. He raised it high, showing he was ready.
Zhou Xu smiled, then turned round and ordered the War Drums to beat, then as they sounded, he turned back to Che Ma with a tear in his eye, "You are like a son to me Che Ma. We will meet again soon, whether it is this life or the next. For now, I will tend to the people, while you fight for Jiangzhou".
Che Ma smiled and nodded, then ordered his armour to be brought which he replaced his robe with. His armour was light so he was able to move easily, with much protection including arm gauntlets to protect his arms, a helmet to protect his head and a metal breastplace. Underneath his armour, was a mixture of armour plating and leather with chain-mail to protect him from slashing weapons.
He then ordered the Gates to open, climbed onto his horse, and rode out the city, still hearing the drums. As he saw the enemy officer, he roared, "So you wish to take Jiangzhou and fight me Demon of Ba Shu?! I am Che Ma...Consider this your journey back home to where you belong!", as he pulled the Double Sword infront of him, and quickly made sure his twin swords were ready at hand just incase, before getting into a defensive position to defend any attack the Demon would make towards him, before using the opposite side to strike back, to return to his original defensive position after.

Kazi could tell by the man's breathing that he was scared. The panting was deep, and despite his angry words one would be able to tell that Che Ma was nervous.
"Tell, me, Che Ma... how often have you faced death?"
Kazi began to circle his prey, and held both arms behind his back. He was ten feet away from Che Ma, so Che Ma would have to lunge in order to attack him. Kazi would be ready for such an attack. However, Kazi had no plans to attack his opponent at this point. Right now, he just wanted to talk.
"You look young, Che Ma. You come prepared in thick armor, and a weapon meant for intimidation. Do you honestly think you have a chance against me? I am a trained killer. I've eaten warriors like you."
The corners of Kazi's lips turned upwards in his crooked, wicked, sadistic smile. Kazi still circled, his body straight and poised. Kazi began to form a plan of attack in his mind.
"You're probably trying to figure out how to attack me. Surely you can't lunge, because you know I'm fast enough to make quick work of you that way. I'm too fast to be allowed strike first, because with that armor you have on, there's no way you can match my speed. Or shall you simply play the waiting game with me? All that armor is going to get heavy in a few minutes. And the heavier it begins to feel, the more tired you become. Your grip will become sweaty in those gauntlets. You know it's true. I, in truth, have no intention of attacking first. Please, Che Ma... make the first, arrogant move."
Then, Kazi whipped his left hand forwards. However, unbeknownst to Che Ma, there was no throwing dagger in it. But Kazi had positioned himself were the sun would bounce off of his gauntlet, and it would appear that Kazi had thrown a throwing knife straight for Che Ma's face. Once Che Ma took the bait and blocked the dagger that wasn't there, Kazi would bring his right arm forward, and throw the real dagger. It was targeted for Che Ma's neck, one of the only parts on his body left unprotected by the armor.
Kazi had every reason to believe that this duel was already over.

(Che Ma - Duel)
Che Ma had came out to fight for Jiangzhou, but as he stayed on his horse in a defensive position, so if the Demon attacked, he would be able to block it, he now began to wonder about the skills of this warrior. If Liu Yan does not claim this land, then another will come and the people will undoubtfully have no peace. Was Liu Yan really a worthy master to take care of the people and what would come of Zhou Xu, and would, if he fell, be worth it if Zhou Xu did continue. He did not made fighting in the present, but as he was defending himself, he thought about the future and the outcome of the Duel and if it was really worth it.
Soon as the Demon threw an imaginary sword, Che Ma pulled up his Double-Sword to deflect it, but then in the corner of his eye saw that another dagger was headed for him, so he brought the left side of his sword upwards to deflect the attack. This was indeed a clever opponent. But what drove this great warrior to fight among the ranks of Liu Yan.
(Zhou Xu - Jiangzhou)
Zhou Xu paced inside the city, with the war drums beating away to raise Che Ma's morale. He turned to one of the officials, "Order the troops out of the Barracks, and get them onto the city walls to cheer for him. If drums do not work, then let the people of this place support him". Then the offical left and went to the Barracks to carry out his orders. He only hoped that his actions would not look like a threat.
(Che Ma - Duel)
And now the Demon wishes for him to make the first move, and already, he had targetted his weaker spot, so now he would keep his Double Sword near those area's with both hands on the weapon, so he could put it into a defensive position to deflect a next attack.
"You are an attacker who has come to take our beloved city. It is you, who should attack first. We could go on all day, but I do not mind. You can continue your taunts at my armor, which protect me, but I can last", he bellowed to his opponent. he didn't mind this talk anyway, because if he did attack, he would have the opportunity to defend himself well, and at the same time, his troops were just standing there.
----------------------------- Battle Updates: Kazi taunts Che Ma, and tricks him so he can successfully target his weak area. As a result of Che Ma blocking the fake attack on his face, it did not take long block the attack against his neck with the other side.
Che Ma considers his position aswell as the people of Jiangzhou but continues in a defensive position, as he was well-guarded. Zhou Xu sends all troops on city walls to cheer for Che Ma. The drums continue.

Kazi saw Che Ma narrowly deflect the incoming attack, and the throwing knife was flung away. Kazi continued to circle his enemy, until he rotated far enough to pick up the throwing knife. That horse wouldn't be able to carry Che Ma's weight all day. It was just a matter of time until Kazi struck again.
"You say that you can last, but what of this city? What of the people living within Jiang Zhou? Your Lord is weak. It is only a matter of time until he is forced to relinquish control. Perhaps not today. Perhaps not tomorrow... but your Lord will not hold this city for another year, and nobody is a more effective leader than Liu Yan."
As the people of the city began to cheer, Kazi's lips turned upwards in a wicked smile. His eyes soon filled with fire, and his words turned malicious once more.
"Oh, how they cheer for you... will they cheer even more once I rip your intestines out and choke you with them? Or perhaps they will cheer louder if I feed your your eyes."
And with that, Kazi struck once more. The Demon of Ba Shu held the throwing dagger in his right hand, and and made a quick step to the right. Then, Kazi quickly moved back to the left, and hurled the dagger at the horse's neck. The horse didn't have the protective armor that Che Ma had, and an attack like this would drop the beast easily. Plus, whichever way the horse fell, one of Che Ma's legs would surely be caught under the horse's weight, leaving him immobile and a sitting duck.
Kazi again stalked his opponent, except he moved in closer this time. He drew two more throwing knives from behind his back, and began to spin them deviously as he moved in for the kill.

(Che Ma - Duel)
Once Kazi had talked of Zhou Xu and Liu Yan as he was circling round, Che Ma raised his blade towards Jiangzhou and ordered them to pull away, but at the same time, his opponent had moved, so he quickly turned to protect himself but instead it hit his horse's neck, as the horse collapsed. Che Ma tried to avoid being trapped, but his foot was stuck under it, as the pain surged through his legs, as he tried to get it out before Kazi arrives, but knew it was use, so he brought the rest of his body near it so he could defend himself.
All the talk he mentioned that Liu Yan would be a right leader made Che Ma think, if Liu Yan was the right leader then why did he have such officers as this who does not allow someone to gather their thoughts and still attacks even when in conversation. All Che Ma could do was raise his Double Sword to protect himself as Kazi drew nearer, as he still attempted to free his foot.
(Zhou Xu - Jiangzhou)
The troops were pulling back from the city walls after being told by Che Ma. Zhou Xu was puzzled and when asked who gave the order meant one thing, that Che Ma was in a weak position and he knew it.
As he glanced down and watched the fight, he heard everything that was going on. Could he bare seeing someone he could call a son be killed to give up the city. Would he be able to continue.
The chief advisor of the city came upto Zhou Xu, "The land is in turmoil Master Xu and here you have Che Ma, who may not be talented as others, doiung his best to fight for this one city. If Liu Yan is indeed a respectible leader. We could submit and not let Che Ma die at the hand of someone like this. If Jiangzhou falls, it'll only be the next city facing the same".
Zhou Xu considered his words. Before the battle, he had a plan to defend the city but did not expect the Duel. Even that was a sign that they did not want to fight, so they do have some care for the people.
(Outside Jiangzhou)
He left the city wall and ordered the doors to be opened and walked towards Kazi and struggling Che Ma with 10 of his best officers to release Che Ma, as he went upto Kazi, "I have listened to your words and heeded advice from my advisors and come to a decision that I am not a capable leader and must understand that the land is in turmoil and requires strong leadership and I now have come to a conclusion that this is Liu Yan", he then paused and bowed his head a little, "Jiangzhou is yours. Allow my men to bring Che Ma in. Your Lord may do to me as he wishes. If I cannot protect Jiangzhou, I have confidence that he will".
------------------------------ Battle Updates: Kazi successfully takes out Che Ma's horse causing his foot to be trapped. Che Ma struggles to free it, as he causes even more pain to bring himself together. Zhou Xu speaks to an advisor, and after being unable to bare seeing Che Ma in pain, surrenders the ciy to Liu Yan's forces.
