While staying in Jian Ye, Sun Fei heard rumors from the locals that the Shan Yue had been pillaging and burning villagers and farms near Hui Ji. Wang Lang, the Imperial prefect of Hui Ji, was doing nothing to help stop it, concerning himself with nothing but the actual city. With the familiar chime of commoners in need of assistance, Sun Fei rallied his men and headed south to deal with the issue.
During the march, Sun Fei rides at the head with a few mounted guards in front of him, Bei Liao to his right, and Pazuzu. Man, fuck your government. You're all fucking terrorists. Fuck you. Pazuzu spilling some of his jug full of wine as he goes on another anti-government rant. If I didn't love Fei, I'd tell every government official to suck...my....DICK!! Bei Liao sighs, knowing it's useless to try and stop him. And you think I give a shit, Paz? Despite how you think the world should be, that's not how it is. All we can do is play the game, and destroy those who cheat it. Fei dark sense of humor showing in his speech which spoke truth. FUCK YOU! Pazuzu yells right before taking another large swig from his jug.
Approaching a small fortified village, Sun Fei has his army sat up camp for the night, making the village their Forward Operations Base (FOB). Setting up guards for the night, Sun Fei had his army rest in preparations for the next day. He intended to try and solve this diplomatically if possible. When sun rise came, Sun Fei left 200 Chu Halberdiers and 100 Chu Crossbowmen to guard the small village, leaving behind their Siege Tower.
Around 9 am, Sun Fei and his army finally stumbled upon smoke in the crowds, and in the distance they could see a small force raiding another small fortified village. As soon as they saw the smoke, one of their advance scouts came galloping up. Sir, it's the Shan Yue. Their about to obliterate that village. The fortifications are holding for now, but they won't for much longer. With a nod, Fei quickly calculated their next moves. Quickly he began shouting out orders, and his veteran soldiers began to ready themselves for the coming battle.
Leading his men to the crest of a near by hill (200 meters off), he ordered his Crossbowmen to dig in and to wait for his order to fire down hill on the barbarians. Pazuzu with the detachment of 200 Jiang Axemen was ordered to move on foot through the woods before the Shan Yue had any idea they were there. He was to wait in ambush until the signal was given to strike. Rest of his army moved into position as some of the operationg Chu Swordsmen move the Ballistas in position. With the drop of his hand, large bolts go flying into the dead center of the Shan Yue ranks. Sun Fei prepares his army on the hill for battle, as the Ballistas draw the attention of the enemy. Prepare yourself men! We shall rescue this village and end these raids!!
OOC: So I need a mod for this, some one to control the Shan Yue to make this more interesting. This is supposed to be a small skirmish, and then I wanted to try and go find the Shan Yue leader and speak with him. If not, it could be a big force I'm fighting, and then we call a momentary truce where I meet the leaders in the middle of the battlefield. It's what ever would entertain you more. Also, you can make a map for the battle if you want, or I'll do it. Once again, your call.

The village was an easy picking, the men within the fields were old and feeble; women at the markets and the larger framed working at the harbours. Where were the strong? Within the forces of Governor Wang Lang of course! Who, were stationed within the barracks that was located in the large Palace grounds; if matters weren't worse for the deteriorating port city of Huiji! The tribes circulated through fear, tearing down doors to force entry and raid for anything of worth..where there were young women, they were soon to be taken as 'spoils' of war; or worse, forced upon there and then. "Make it quick! We have to be gone before anyone gets us!" A ferocious voice thronged through the village as screams continued to fill the air, indeed authority was within the tones and the Shanyue took to the command; there he was, the Chieftan.. Panlin, a man of great frame and one whose strength was famed, even his name within the Shanyue pertruded dread. However, there was something his name was truely known for; where ever he placed himself, the widespread of violence and carnage was rife..
"Get going, take the women and the gold, get some supplies too!..no witnesses!" The order was set, things were going to plan. However, from the sky came bolts of large missiles, their direction? For the centre of the moving Shanyue men! Shrills of wails came from the collision, as men ran into chaos trying to save themselves while attempting to help their brethren from the unsuspected attack. "An ambush!! We've been found! Quick, move out of range and prepare to counter!" This is what Panlin did not want, a small skirmish with local authorities..it would hold them back from their escape, also..what if Wang Lang came in force? They could be done for!
The rest of the Shanyue moved to the fore, withdrawing to a safe distance where the rest of the shower of arrows could not bring more damage to the ranks. "Do not fear them! Look, they have to fight from a distance. Trample them to the ground and take what they have of worth!! Gold, silk, weapons, anything!" The spear was leveled and the eyes burning, Panlin was ready for the kill..such a look one remembered, but seldom survived to tell of such a glare. "Tear them apart!!" The Shanyue turned round on order and they formed a shambles of a rank; they were a tribe, one known for pillaging and causing atrocities where every they roamed..battle formations was not their strong power. Suddenly, they charged en masse.. "They will pay with blood for our fallen brethren!" One thing they had upon the now enemy, though their ranks were a mash of thugs and chaos they all worked as brothers; something known within the tribes of this realm, they treated each other as family and fought as one entity..

As the barbarians wailed in pain, Sun Fei looked upon them with no remorse. I want their leader taken prisoner. Make it happen men!! Allowing the tribal men to charge in, Sun Fei had his Crossbowmen launch two volleys into their ranks once they were in range. After completing two volleys, the left flank opened up, and the trampling of horses was heard. On point was Bei Liao, spear in hand, shouting and cussing loudly. Let's see how these dogs fair against real soldiers men!! Behind him was 500 Chu Calvary, screaming their war cries. They would crash into the weakened ranks of Shan Yue warriors, slaying and trampling all in their paths, while searching for Panlin.
While the Chu Crossbowmen pulled back, they were replaced by 300 Chu Halberdiers, who took the front line and slowly moved in to aid the Calvary after their initial charge. 500 Chu Halberdiers stayed at the rear to guard the siege equipment and Crossbowmen from melee combat. Sun Fei himself drew his twin swords from his back and charged into combat atop his mighty steed. Faced with impossible numbers, the tribal warrior would crumble soon, unless they had reinforcements. Although unlikely, Sun Fei had taken precautions against reinforcements by leaving half his Halberdiers in reserve.
In the rear, Sun Fei's men wave a red flag signaling to Pazuzu. If the enemy tries to flee the battlefield, or Panlin flees alone, he is to immediately launch the ambush and kill or capture the fleeing Shan Yue, primarily Panlin.

The charge was placed, soon a fire from crossbows was made yet they had to be aimed directly at the enemy to work..however, some seemed to believe they wielded bows! Those who had intelligence with such a weapon felled few but still the Shanyue showed no sense of fear, they had faced many and would refuse to fall today; they continued with the charge. "Spears, take out the horses!" Suddenly they halted, those wielding spear placed them infront and were poised directly for the Cavalry that remained their charge; they would collide into the spears and be felled for sure!A General shot out from the ranks, screaming some nonsence about true warriors; who did these men think they were? Had they not learned anything of the tribes? They were hardy men who had suffered much and forced into survival tactics that no other knew of. "We maybe few, but you stand no chance against me!" Panlin placed the attack harder, the men wailed and some hailed the cry of war as the two sides collided.. Their leader rushed the enemy with a few boutes to come, however he would soon retreat in hopes to lead the fool further into his own troops; the Shanyue would be as wolves to pounce upon him. Yet, something caught his eye, the leader..or so it seemed, too charged for them. The perfect moment! "You! Come to the fore and face me in a duel! If you do not, then you show all your men they are being led by a mere coward!!" It was stated, an interesting turn for the two sides..if Sun Fei did not accept he would be ridiculed a coward before not only his own men, but the tribe of Shanyue; if refused..then surely their morale would rise above and tear deep into the foe..Troop LosesPanlin25 Jiang Militia 20 Jiang Axemen 25 Jiang Pikemen 20 Jiang Swordsmen 10 Jiang Spearmen 15 Shanyue Axemen 30 Jiang Cavalry Sun Fei50 Chu Cavalry 50 Chu Halberdiers [Please re-post the edited Troop Count in your next post] Notices:- Panlin has ordered Sun Fei into a duel!

The battle rages as cries of horses and echos of screams are heard. Quickly blood soaks the grass of the battlefield, sinking into the dirt as men drop. These barbarians managed to defend quite well against the Calvary charge despite the volley of crossbow bolts prior to. Bei Liao begins to rally the Calvary and Halberdiers around him to form a line so they may move as a wall to mow down the frenzied barbarians. The Calvary would be positioned to the rear now, with the Halberdiers leading this move. Stay together! Keep your discipline, it's our strength against these unorganized scum!Sun Fei is in the middle of the fight, slashing down Shan Yue as they come at him. In the midst of the field, their leader, Panlin, shouts a cry at him. He was challenging Sun Fei to open combat. Whipping the blood off his twin swords, 'Veritas' and 'Aequitas', Fei urges his horse forward. Then let's fight, and see if you're not all bark and no bite. With Sun Fei was 30 Chu Calvary as guards, cutting down any Shan Yue then dared interfere with their battle. If the Shan Yue began to overwhelm Fei's guards and try to attack him all at once, Pazuzu would launch the ambush to rush to break the barbarians. As Fei's horse draws close to Panlins right side, Fei twirls his swords to confuse and intimidate the barbarian leader as best he can. Once in range, Sun Fei would evade and dodge the first strike of Panlin's spear, using his swords if necessary. If he simply swings it bluntly at him, he will guard against that as well. Once he has lost his balance from his missed attack, Fei would slash down to chop off his arm. If successful, Fei would next go for the killing stroke by chopping off his head. If missed, Fei would try to bluntly hit him in the face with the hilt of his sword. The Shanyue took to the charge, not faltering or showing any signs of giving up as the two sides began to tear each other apart. From behind ambushes began to take form, their movements unknown to those of the tribe who were focusing on the main unit; for all they knew this was all they had to go against. Panlin took the fore and smiled as the challenge was accepted, readying his polearm the leader went to engage..however.. "Dawang! Don't get into the trap, lets make a get away while we still can; we're losing too many brothers!"Panlin75 Jiang Militia 20 Jiang Axemen 25 Jiang Pikemen 30 Jiang Swordsmen 40 Jiang Spearmen 45 Jiang Cavalry 75 Shanyue Axemen As Panlin turned to gaze the speaker, it purged from his captain and indeed true to word their numbers had plumited because of their size..they had to make a swift getaway before their tribe was eradicated; something he knew was foolish on someone like this. "Withdraw! You foolish biget will feel our wrath another time, in full force!!" The order was set and agreed upon by all, wheeling themselves around, while trying to fend off their now rear flank to the main unit, Panlin and the rest of the Shanyue began the retreat the way they came..however, they did not know any ambushes would be awaiting their path of escape!..Summary:- Panlin has dropped the duel challenge!
- Panlin has ordered a full retreat!

In the midst of the carnage, Sun Fei charged to accept the challenge and engage his opponent in one on one combat. But as he neared his foe, he turned tail and call for a full retreat of his tribe. With a ferocious yell, Sun Fei begins taunting the barbarian leader. This is how the mighty leader of the Shan Yue acts? Fleeing with his tail between his legs after his challenge is accepted?! HA! His taunts could be heard across the battlefield, rousing his men to fight harder, and likely taking a toll on the morale of the enemy. Don't let up men, take them dead or alive, but their leader Panlin must live!! While the retreat began, Pazuzu steps out of the woods and lets out thunderous barks and swinging his great axe. Out of the trees Jiang Axemen pour out screaming wildly, their faces and bodies covered in war paint. They begin to slay the Shan Yue tribesmen, cutting off their retreat. Pazuzu charges in and starts cutting a path through the retreating Shan Yue. - Sun Fei's soldiers are ordered to keep the pressure up, taking the Shan Yue dead or alive but Panlin alive.
- Pazuzu launches the ambush of 200 Jiang Axemen cutting off the escape route of the Shan Yue.

As the taunting words burned deep into the Shanyue's veins, their leader knew he could not listen and had to move to a ground that they could use to counterattack or simply vanish into..but, today was not the placing of Heavens to their side, it toppled and their lives would soon be placed upon the Wheel of Judgement. Ambush was sprung infront of them, the men shrilled into chaos and attempted to disperse in any direction they could; some trampling their own to gain an escape route. Panlin continued the fight, attempt after attempt to cut his way through.. But, it was futile, with each slah another would appear and then, another; the situation had become dire and his mind was not of a military tactician..all he could do was watch as all he had gained fall because of this fool.
Being surrounded was a devastating matter, especially to the cheiftain of the Shanyue, Panlin. Gaining this position through force and respect from his brethren; how could he continue with this now to his name? Death is what he deserved, however, as the blade placed close to throat the blade was knocked away as the order for his life was placed. Those who survived threw their weapons to the ground, seeing that their controlled and well formed lines must know of the virtue that warriors placed above all else; never to attack a foe who was not armed. Panlin held the hilt tight as he stood within the circle of bodies that were left.. "Why attack us then simply want our bodies alive?!" Eyes blazed with fury, shame circulating his body and confusion to this situation..of all the days he chose to raid the simpleton back-water town of Huiji, a being of strength had to appear from the hills..

Ignoring Sun Fei's taunt, Panlin continues to lead his men into a full retreat, as well as into a vicious ambush. They attempt to disperse, but it is no use. Quickly they are overwhelmed, the remnants of the tribal force being tied up and brought to Fei and his generals, Panlin being pushed to his knees. Sun Fei's swords are sheathed across his back, Bei Liao holds his spear up right while Pazuzu holds his great axe over his shoulders. Confused as to why Fei would not just kill him right away, he voices his confusion.
Why would we kill you before we got to have real fun with you? Pazuzu said with a sadistic grin, his sharpened teeth showing. Fei quickly rebukes him by nut checking his general, letting him fall to the ground in agony. He then moves forward to Panlin looking him in the eye. I don't believe in unnecessarily killing men. When I heard about your raids, I came south to try and quell them peacefully, but unfortunately I stumbled upon you mid-raid, and was compelled to take action. Sun Fei breaks his gaze and looks out at the bloody field. Explain to me your reasons for doing this. How did the government wrong you, since I'm sure you've been wronged worse then any other, correct? Fei spoke in a calm voice, and although he expected an answer, the sarcasm was easily detectable in his question.

As those who were spared of the Shanyue were placed into ropes and to their knees, now spoils of war shame was placed upon their faces.. Panlin on the other hand, could be seen to share the most of this feeling, knowing there was only one route for him now; impossible to be redeemed through combat. As Sun spoke in a tone which he did not favour, it was clear that this man's ignorance was beyond the skies. "You could never experience our toil! We are not of Han descent, so the Shanyue are pushed away from any chances of getting wealth. The local authorities do not care about us, nor do the rest care about any of the tribes in this realm!" Indeed a true tale, as increasing occurances where the government had placed the tribes of this land on par with beings of demons..those not worthy of their embrace and viewed as simply beings to be whipped into servitude. Miao, Nanman, Xianbei, Qiang, Xiongnu, Wuhuan, Zhuang, Yao, Dai, Dong, Bai, Buyi.. Each one had come under extreme persecution and their people sufferd because of their indifference from those who claimed to be children of 'Han'..
"We are all discarded like a handkachief..and you question our raids? You question why we attack those of the cities? Claim us barbarians, when it is you who are similar..we have done nothing close to barbarianism compared to those of the Han.." Lowering his head, a sigh left his lips..a sigh of the suffering he had seen and experienced. "You force us to act like this, to steal from the homes of the Han is our way of making you suffer..suffer to releave the pain that we hold in all of our hearts!" Panlin went quiet, all his men lowered their heads and silence surged through the prisoners of war.. Even if Sun did not believe his words, it did not matter, as Panlin and all the cheiftans of each tribe had the scars..wounds..memories that one day all those of the Han would pay for, their compensation far beyond the wealth those of the aristocracy had..

Although Sun Fei knew full well of their plight, that they were persecuted cruelly for their descent, he still felt there was no justification for killing innocents. But he did feel sympathy for the tribe. Don't think i am unsympathetic to the Shan Yue. I just do not feel there is ever a reason to kill innocents. Fei looked around at the beaten barbarians....the defeated men. He thought of his next course of action.
Approaching Panlin, Fei cuts off binds, and allows him to stand up to his feet, so he may see Fei eye to eye. Of course, Sun Fei's guards almost have a heart attack, and quickly put their hands on the hilt of their swords to defend their lord. His generals are also ready to defend him, although they are more at ease, trusting their lord.
Standing in front of Panlin, Fei looks him in the eyes and begins to explain. I apologize for the crimes committed against you, your people, and all the tribes surrounding China. But I do not condone the killing of innocents, of either Chinese or Shan Yue descent. Explain to me though how I can possibly, in some way, right the wrongs done to you by the Han government?
