Early one morning Chen Zen was riding upon his horse around outside the walls of Xia Pi. He had been thinking alot the night before of how he would best help his new liege Lu Bu. After a few hours of riding aimlessly about the country-side Zen finally came up with an idea.
The soldiers under the Chen Brothers had been getting up before even before the sun for the last few days. Many of them had been without much to do and were happy to be able to help out with the cities protection. However, in the way they were helping was quite tiresome.
The three brothers had split up taking different paths out of the city of Xia Pi with their troops split into thirds. The troops however were not all the brothers brought with them. Some of the troops were given control of a large caravan of horses pulling carts. Within these carts was a stockpile of supplies. There were hammers, nails, axes, and other objects of the sort.
Zen had taken a route towards the south of the city. After every so often he would check the distance between them and the city. As the city was a distance away but still in sight Zen ordered the troops to gather all their equipment. This location will be the first of the many towers the group shall create.
With the axes they had brought, many of the troops ,including Zen himself, went to find any large trees they could lay their eyes on. With large swings and slashes from the axes in their hands they would bring the towering trees to the ground where the soldiers stood. Each tree will be a new line of defense for the city.
At a similar location to where Zen was making the first tower his younger brother Zang was also at work. "ALRIGHT YOU WEAKLINGS!!! WE ARE ABOUT TO MAKE REAL MEN OUTTA YOU!!!!" With a loud roar the soldiers more fearful of being worked to death than disobeying the giant they called their leader they ran off to work. Many were gathering wood while others when supplied with the wood began to construct the tower. Most of the soldiers were somewhat unsure as to what to do but thankfully some of the group had formerly been woodworkers and carpenters before they began working as soldiers so the job wasn't as hard as originally predicted.
The work was hard and took much of their time but after a few weeks had past since they began their project the tower was created at Zen's location. He knew not of his brothers work for he had not discussed it much with them during the nights that the group returned to the city. However that wasn't on his mind right now. Zen was more interested with the great work the group had created. The tower before them reached high up with a wooden ramp that twirled around in the center of the tower between the legs all the way to the top nest. At the top there was a wooden wall that stretched upward blocking sight of the people within the tower from those below. Although the men at the tower could easily see those on the ground because in multiple places on the wooden wall there are small windows that can be opened and are large enough to stick a crossbow through. As the walls go up it comes to a stop with there being a roof that reaches inward towads the center of the walls. However, at the very center there is an opening with a nice sized amount of wood and other materials ordered in a way that if lit it wouldn't set the rest of the tower ablaze. This was to be used if enemy troops were seen to alert the city.
Down at ground level there is a small trench dug out around the tower with wooden spikes placed pointing outward to stop cavalry from getting too close. This project that Zen took upon himself to create mad him smile. He was happy but there was still more to do. The plan that was devised was to have nine towers built with three in each direction. The group was now to move on to the next location Zen had marked before the project was to begin.
Unbeknownst to Zen both his brothers had finished their projects on time and were also on the move to their next destinations. Zing was the first to finish out of all of them for it was his design that the three used for the towers. Zang was ofcourse the last to finish because of his clumsiness and his anger issues the tower had been knocked down twice and the men had been scared half to death by him on multiple occassions. Even though there were delays the tower was still finished and Zang's group moved on.
The first three towers were finished but there was still much more to do.
