The Govenor of Beiping saluted him as a brethren and placed Jieming as honoured guest, ascending from the raised dais to greet him personally and have a serving maid to attend to every whim. Yet, the pleasantries were broken with the important news he had to report to Gongsun, indeed their importance was much higher than he had expected. The General Li Jue had sent his own clansmen to depose him? Did this man not have any compassion?! Staggering backwards the Govenor had to compose himself, guards came to aid him before the stumbling forced him to fall. "Wh-what?" How many years had served the Empire, without a question of loyalty; the borders secured from the Xiongnu and Xianbei..now this?! The taxations were becoming too much even for his jurisdiction, how much more could those to men bleed from the people?!
The Govenor took to his raised dais, seating himself in an awkward position; it was clear that worry had taken over his disposition. "This cannot be!..No, His Excellency has the heart of his Emperor Wen; the compassion has been forced into repression." Suddenly it was rage that filled Gongsun Zan, a fist collided with the arm of the dais and a hairline crack appeared; it was the last straw to him..the camel's back could hold no more! Turning to face his clansmen, who he knew devouted his strength to him.. "Such bad news for our clan, dear Cousin. Those snakes shall be the end to us." It finally clicked, the Govenor's eyes widened; the body froze. "..No.." The eyes were now of worry, concern and somewhat desperation; though it combined with the anger..the voice was rushed, it had an urgency of many and foresight of something ill coming the way. "You were not sent to despose of me, you were a mere ploy! That fox Li Jue would have made contact with Govenor Yuan; it is not a secret that he wishes to have Hebei within his grasp..the only worthy opposition, is me!"
"Dear Cousin, do not abandon your family so soon! We must unite this land into a solide defence, battle is eminent; that fool Yuan acts far too quickly for any victory. He knows nothing of the Xianbei Cavaliers under my control. Together, Cousin, we can hold the lands of our clansmen; what do you say? Shall you be the dagger that is thrust within our clan, or the shield?" The Govenor pleaded with Jieming, as a fellow clansmen..near to brothers, he knew that with his help that Yuan Shao would not dare to invade his territory. Li Jue would have to pay for what he was causing, the Xianbei had to be informed and aid requested; Gongsun knew that there was a heavy chance of a defeat..but, with solidifying the Gongsun clan, there was a chance for victory...

Tears welled up in Jieming eyes as he heard his cousin's pleas for aid. Jieming wanted to stay and fight, he truly did, but with the body of his men all the way in Ru Nan, he would make no difference in the conflict. He prayed that the Heavens would forgive him...
"Elder Cousin, I am moved to action by your words of wisdom, yet I am afraid my men are in far away Ru Nan. A weak man such as myself could be of no use to you here in Bei Ping, without the brave men of the Standard beside me, I am merely another spear."
He gathered his thoughts.
"Elder Cousin, if you deploy your Xianbei cavalry now, you can set ambushes along the roads and harry Yuan's forces as they approach. This would give me time to return to Ru Nan and gather my own forces. I will do all in my power to aid you in the conflict, Elder Cousin, for I do not forsake my family."
He wept thinking of the worst that could happen.
"Hmm...If things do go poorly during the fighter, Elder Cousin, I implore you to retreat with your life. My men can provide your sanctuary in Ru Nan, and with your superior wisdom, we could surely take down the tyrants who corrupt the Imperial Throne, and restore His Majesty's reign. We are not a family that backs down, I know, yet we cannot shirk our duties to the Son of Heaven. Allow me to make haste for Ru Nan, where I can gather my men. I will attempt to divert the attention of the Yuan forces long enough for you to make your escape, if it comes to that. Please...The Son of Heaven needs you to protect your life, Elder Cousin. I cannot defeat the corruption on my own."
He awaits his Elder Cousin's reply before taking off with his small entourage at full gallop towards Ru Nan.

Gongsun thought more of the matter, taking in every word that was spoken by his kinsmen.. Shaking his head, the Govenor tried to wonder why he had left his men within Runan and travelled all the way here to inform him of such ill omen?.. Indeed a fine General he was, but he had become quite suspicious of others and their actions since the coalition against Dong Zhuo. Many there placed the knife in each others backs, trying to push themselves for the glory and self interest. The Yuan brothers are a prime example, both wished for glory and then a fued broke out between them. What made things change between Cousins? Jieming's plan simply became the catalyst of the Govenor's suspicion. "You wish to station my own men under your command, so we can be the decoy for you to return with your force?."
When the announcement came that a clansmen had approached with news, Gongsun believed it would be to reunite with the family. But now, he had placed the large divet in between them. "Or, do you men to turn my men against me..then flea to your lands bringing reinforcements for that man Yuan Shao? For I have seen kinsmen turn upon another, one being the naive party; that shall not be me." The serious tone splurted out, standing his ground the guards became aware of a possible situation. The Govenor marked Jieming, observing everything he did..to formulate his true intentions for being here..

Jieming raised his eyebrows, shocked at the accusations. Of course he would not consider such a thing.
"I believe you are mistaken, Elder Cousin. I would never turn against my clansman, I would much rather be torn apart by Yuan Shao's army. I originally came here to seek your advice on how to deal with the corruption in the capital, for it is both of our duties to make sure the Emperor's true will is known. Sadly, General Li and General Guo have been obscuring the Emperor's true will, issuing imperial decrees that the Emperor would not himself approve of."
The white-clad leader shook his head.
"At this point, I know not how to deal with the traitors in the capital. However, the same traitors have likely given Lord Yuan an opportunity to attack us here in Beiping. Though I would gladly stand and fight for my family, would I not be useless without my men?"
Jieming slowed down to explain his full plan to his cousin.
"Elder Cousin, my full plan was to return to Ru Nan, gather my men and attack the cities Lord Yuan likely will leave unguarded if he attacks Beiping. If I could garner the support of Cao Cao or Lu Bu," he shudders slightly at the thought, "we might be able to force Yuan Shao's men to retreat to defend his own cities. If you think this plan to be flawed, I would hear your own, Elder Cousin, for it is likely much better than my meager intelligence could produce."
Jieming himself stayed, but he sent a messenger out of Beiping, to warn his loyal follower Liu Pi.

Gongsun thought long and hard of this situation, no doubt Yuan Shao would be on his way.. He knew that the Wuhan would come to his aid once the messenger was sent, they could be placed within the vanguard to take the brunt of the Nanpi Govenor's force. Allowing a long sigh leave his lips, he had a feeling that once Jieming left; it would be the last ever sight of him. "Fine, however, if you fail to arrive with your men..our clan shall fall to that Yuan Shao; with it, our entire honour. I cannot allow the fall of our ancestors, do you understand?" His tone was serious, with a sense of authority that hid the doubt which would soon take over his entire being, he said no more to Jieming not wishing to halt him; they would be on the borders of Beiping soon...
"Send messengers to the Wuhan and to Liu Yu in Ji for reinforcements. I shall not let that man defeat me! Go, prepare the men to defend the city!" The Govenor observed Jieming take his leave, believing that once he had left the borders..their star would fall and if so, it would be he who gained the shame of all ancestors; if the death came..then the ghostly world would be Gongsun's home and the residence..Runan..or where ever that Jieming chose to place himself...

Jieming bowed low before his Elder Cousin.
"I shall do as you ask, Elder Cousin."
The Runanese commander took his leave as he should, riding out of the city gates.
